Over the hill?

With all the hype about the Corona Virus is has been a shock to me to realize that my husband and I are in the high risk zone. Good grief are we now really old? I remember riding in the car with my mother when she was 95 and she said “I think I can consider myself old.”

That is what I was hoping to do but heavens all the news people are making it clear that we are already there! I refuse to believe it.

My children have also called to warn us about being around large groups of people. It reminded me of the time they told me to make baby blankets so that if I was not around there would be some for their grandchildren. Have we fallen into the Twilight Zone?

We will be cautious as that is the smart thing to do but really!

  1. As a perennial health nut, I refuse to think I’m “high risk.” Besides, I am firmly convinced that I will not leave this world one moment before God wants to call me home. And I wouldn’t want to hang around one moment longer, either. Whenever that happens, I will be better off, forever. So, it’s all good. 🙂

  2. Age is irrelevant. If you are healthy and happy, I don’t think one would be any more high risk than someone younger who is less healthy. I have asthma and I have just been sent for diagnostic tests for COPD (which will probably be a year away now with respiratory therapists gearing up for people in dicier situations). But really, I never hang out in crowds, I sleep well, I eat healthy, I take care of myself. I seldom catch anything that is going around so I am not overly concerned about how high my risk is.

      1. Even people with chronic health issue are better off doing anything they can to protect themselves than sitting around feeling like helpless victims. My daughter and her family have health issues and she is a warrior when it comes to diet and encouraging proper rest and exercise for them.

      2. If the stores cannot bring in enough new stock it will become obvious, but will those people care? It’s really disheartening. I have always believed most people are better than this.
