Psalm 84 Verse 10

10 Better is one day in your courts
    than a thousand elsewhere;
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

I have discovered an interesting thing. The more time that I spend with God …..praying ….listening…the better I feel. Maybe that’s what the psalmist is talking about. Someone I knew said that the person we know best is the one we spend the most time with. Maybe we need to spend more time with God and less time with cell phones and TV. Living with God is a much better deal.

Prayer: Lord of Wisdom, turn us from false prophets who lead us along wrong paths. Show us the way to you . AMEN

Psalm 5 Verse 3

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; early in the morning I make my appeal and watch for you.

I with it were so. I wish we all took time out every day to pray morning and evening. We have good intentions. We make plans to get ourselves into a routine. It lasts for a few days and then something interferes. It is so hard to be consistent. When we do pray it is often to ask for something….healing for someone…help for family…whatever. This is not bad but not enough. The Psalm clearly says “I make my appeal and watch for you.” The Psalmist sits and waits for an answer. How often do we wait for an answer? We pray and then we move on. When will we learn to wait?

Prayer: Patient Lord, thank you for waiting for us. Help us to turn to you in our joys and our sorrows. Most of all help us to wait and listen for your answer. AMEN

Savor each moment

If, before going to be every night, you will tear a page from the calendar, and remark.’There goes another day of my life, never to return,’ you will become time conscious.

I’m not sure we take much notice of the passing of time. We say time flies. It certainly seems to. Months fly by with hardly a notice. Someone once told me that time passes faster for us as we grow older because we pay less attention to each day. Yet each day is unique. Each moment is different and we will never have it again.

Don’t let time fly by without notice. Remind us to savor each moment and savor each day.
